FCA announces new rules for handling regulated motor finance commission complaints

Yesterday, the FCA announced new rules for handling regulated motor finance commission complaints not already subject to the existing pause.

The key updates include:
- Extending the pause on non-DCA complaints to 4 December 2025
- Adding regulated consumer hire agreements to the scope
- Publishing guidance on compliant disclosure and consent, with examples of good and poor practices

These rules take effect today and the FCA aims to update firms by May 2025, depending on the Supreme Court appeal progress.

For more information the policy statement and final rules can be found here.
