We are looking for a paralegal who is passionate and enthusiastic and has some experience of working in consumer credit and regulatory compliance, supporting senior lawyers and compliance/regulatory directors in advising on relevant regulation and consumer protection law relevant to a wide range of consumer credit and lending products.

The role – paralegal supporting senior lawyers, regulatory and compliance directors:
Preparing initial draft advice or guidance note to clients on consumer credit regulation issues (CCA, CONC, FSMA) and regulated lending issues
Complaints handling work – which involves and not limited to supporting with litigation claims, debt recovery work, and SRA regulated claims management complaints, assisting with the management of cases, including tracking deadlines, preparing court documents, and communicating with clients and other parties
Building effective networks with partners and others in the business
Drafting clear and effective policy and procedures and regulatory documents
Writing clear and effective training materials and assisting in their presentation.
Proficiency in using legal software ie LEAP, document management systems ie Sharedrive and other relevant IT tools
The individual
You will have:
A law degree (LLB, MSc) or equivalent and a working knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules and the Commercial Court Guide and gained experience working in financial services sector either at a law firm or in-house financial services institution
Worked in the financial services sector supporting lawyers in advising on Consumer Credit regulations including: CCA, CONC, FSMA and RAO and consumer protection law relevant to a wide range of consumer credit and lending products with reference to SMEs, to include motor finance, asset finance and leasing products
Experience in carrying out PSL research work by using legal references such as LEXIS
Experience with regulated lending issues, ideally with experience in consumer credit retail, motor finance, asset finance and equipment leasing products
Experience in supporting with implementing operational improvements
Experience within a retail banking institution or motor or asset finance institution supporting lawyers, compliance/regulatory directors in advising end-to-end on regulated and unregulated products
Knowledge of three lines of defence compliance frameworks, Senior Management and Certification regime, oversight and monitoring schemes and the FCA regulatory process
You always apply a growth mindset with excellent client management skills and strive for excellence
The ability to establish priorities and work under pressure to meet critical deadlines when handling contentious cases
Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and applications such as Word and Excel
You are able to work as part of a team working to support the senior lawyers compliance and regulatory directors.
