Frank Brown joins Auxillias as a redress and remediation specialist

Auxillias, the specialist law firm, today announced that Frank Brown has joined its team as a redress and remediation consultant, primarily working with clients that are going through s166 Skilled Person reviews but also supporting the team that provides governance, risk and regulatory advice to businesses.

Frank, who previously worked for a number of ‘Big Four’ accountants and top UK law firms, is adept at advising a range of firms - from startups to organisations at the heart of Britain’s financial market infrastructure. He has also acted as an s166 Skilled Person and is well versed in dealing with regulators.

Frank Brown commented: “I look forward to working with the team at Auxillias and with its roster of great clients. This is a timely partnership as the FCA has started strongly in 2024 with a slew of s166 notices already. And this rate is likely to continue as the regulator takes the opportunity to use the wide range of powers the new Consumer Duty rules give them.”

Regulatory breaches and failures to effectively execute strategy can often be symptoms of root cause issues in the firm’s governance, culture, organisational structure and business model. Receiving adverse attention from a regulator – for instance in the form of a Section 166 - is a daunting experience for firms, particularly those that have had little interaction with the regulator before. Knowing what to do from the outset is incredibly important. It's also vital to understand that a firm's actions and decisions during the process will have a great influence on the outcome.  If a firm is in this position, it is crucial that firms get their ducks in a row now in readiness.

Jo Davis, CEO, Auxillias said: “Frank is a perfect addition to our team.  He is a well-known financial regulation expert and has extensive experience of advising boards and senior management on how to achieve their strategic objectives while staying within risk appetite and abiding by the rules and principles of the regulators.  Frank has a very calm, measured approach and takes a holistic view in situations, which comes in very handy when dealing with regulatory breaches and failures.  Redress and remediation work is currently our largest area of growth and we are delighted that Frank is now part of the Auxillias family!”
