FOS charging for professional representatives

FOS confirms case fees for CMCs from April 2025

The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) has announced that from 1 April 2025, professional representatives - including claims management companies (CMCs) - will be subject to case fees.

This change is aimed at improving case quality, discouraging speculative claims and creating a fairer cost distribution across the financial sector.

Key details of the new charging structure:

  • £250 case fee per claim

  • £175 credit if the case is upheld

  • Reduction in financial firm case fees (from £650 to £475) for unsuccessful claims

  • 10 free cases per financial year for professional representatives

This marks a significant shift in the regulatory landscape. Read our write up on this here.
